Travel Date....

The wait for our travel date is over! Our interview is October 10th at 11:00am. (4:00 am Ga. time; 3 am La and Tx time) We are very excited that our interview has been scheduled. We are working on getting a flight and will leave either Friday Oct. 7th or Saturday the 8th. This journey has been covered in prayer and has been full of BIG faith decisions. God has been so faithful to us as we have traveled this road. It shows us how much He truly loves the fatherless.

The interview is a time that we meet with an adoption department employee and they show us children that are available for adoption. We will be able to see small pictures of the children with a little description of their medical condition. We are going to ask to be shown children as young as possible and relatively healthy. (Many people say that this doesn't exist on the list. However, we are trusting that God has that child/children waiting for us.) We can then choose a child or sibling group to meet. After receiving referral papers we will travel to the orphanage that the child lives in, meet the child, and decide if we want to continue forward with the adoption of this particular child. If we do, then we start the paperwork and wait for a court date. If we do not think this child is going to be right for our family then we can ask for a 2nd interview. It is not uncommon for families to have more than one interview. Adoptive families are allowed up to three interviews. We have faith that God is in control of this and will make it clear who we should adopt.

As we continue down this path we ask you, our friends and family, to continue to pray for us.
We desire to have prayer warriors lifting us up before, during, and after our interview.
We ask for prayers about discernment as we walk through this process.
Please pray for our children at home and for the wonderful people who are taking care of them:-)
Travel safety.
Financial provision.

We give God all the glory in advance for what He alone can do. We claim the following verse!

"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deut. 31:8

Successful dossier submission!!

We received this email from our facilitator Thursday morning regarding our dossier.

"My congratulation, your dossier has passed the initial check up and was accepted for further consideration to the Adoption Department of Ukraine.
They told me to come in about 2 weeks to receive the invitation for you, if everything is fine with the dossier. I will go earlier and I will keep you informed."

We are praising the Lord that we are one step closer to bring home our child/children from Ukraine to their forever home.

As we wait... we begin to focus on the next step... What do we bring to Ukraine? We will probably be there from 4 to 6 weeks. We are starting the process of getting these things together....eg. photo album, medications, documents, gifts for the orphans, money, ect. We have read many blogs from others who have adopted from this country and are trying to glean as much information from anyone we know who has traveled this journey before us.

We are so excited that we are getting closer, with a bit of anxiousness on my part (Suzanne). My constant prayer is
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Peace is right here with Jesus. We know beyond a shadow of a doubt God called us to step out in faith and rescue one or a few of His precious children. What a privilege to serve our Savior!

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

Please continue to pray for our journey. We know the Lord hears the prayers of His children and it makes a difference!

Dossier Submission

The time has arrived! Our facilitator will be submitting our dossier Sept. 8th. This will be Wed. night between 1 am and 4am our time. We are praying that our paperwork is approved. We are excited to be at this stage of our adoption journey. We expect to hear about our approval and our appointment date about 10 days after the submission.

On the home front we are beginning to prepare for our departure. We are working on a schedule for the kids and their activities for all the wonderful people who will be helping us with them. We are making an album of pictures to take with us to Ukraine to show the officials, judges and orphanage directors what our home and family looks like here in Georgia. We are trying to figure out what else we might need to bring with us to help make the trip a success. Let us know if you have any ideas!

It is a good possibility that we will be traveling within the month. We hope to hear on Monday if we are approved for the interest free loan we applied for to help with adoption costs. Please pray for us as we prepare to travel and meet our child/children for the first time. We are praying for wisdom, discernment, understanding, provision, and that what God has ordained will come to pass. We praise our Heavenly Father in advance for what He will do in the coming months. If God is for us, who can stand against us?

We appreciate your prayers and support for our family.
